Swedish students party Wednesdays. Mostly because it takes them like 3 days to get over the hangover since Saturday.
My Wednesday night was not an exception. I tried to do my usual routine and sent Erik a text. Erik replied that he was going to study his arse of since he had an exam friday and that I sucked if I were to nag him into partying.I made Vikas and Khalid party with me instead.
When I went to pick up Vikas in school it turned out he was sittin’ in the same room as Erik. We then spent about an hour drinkin’ moderately and ridiculing Erik trying to make him party with us. We did not succeed. He was adamant about the need for him to be able to study the mornin’ after. In retrospect it turns out he didn’t study anyway.
Vikas and I dropped his computer of at a friend of his place in Alpha house. We then proceeded to Akademin, sharing a 50cl vodka bottle between us as we were walking. We finished the bottle about the same time as we reached Akademin, got in and bought beer. Vikas did the stripper-pole thing. We sang TNT by AC/DC and before I knew it Khalid showed up with his Russian neighbor.
It was about this time the Vodka really hit me. And more importantly, it hit Vikas. He started going up towards women shouting “I’m TNT!” on the top of his lungs. He obviously found it to a be a brilliant way to pick up women. It wasn’t. It’s the first time I’ve seen women actually run away from someone inside a bar.
I had 5 more beers, spoke to persons I know and persons I’ve never seen before. This girl walked up to me and said “Hello, your name is Pontus and you study commercial law.” I was surprised as I’ve never seen her before. She then told me that she had meet me like the first week of school. Turns out I had walked around, inside Akademin, and shook everyones hand, stating my name and choice of education and then leaving them. Obviously I have no recollection of the incident in question.
Later on Vikas picked a fight with Khalid about religion. No one of them have any idea why they were fighting today, but they were quite passionate Wednesday. I told them that religion was the opium of the people and only retards would ruin a good evening arguing about some elphantheaded spirit. Then we bought beer.
I Went home around 2. Called Mal. It was expensive. I should stop calling her when drunk. She shows no appreciation of me, not matter how expensive the mode of conversation may be.
Khalid was supposed to crash at Vikas place. Spoke with Vikas Thursday and it turns out he woke up in a friends bed in Alpha house. We still have no ideá what happened with Khalid.
My Wednesday begun with 6 hours of class. That sucked. The evening turned out better, I went to Erik and prepartied with him and Khalid. (Preparty’s at Erik’s consists nowadays of playing with his computer, watching parts of documentaries that Erik’s physicked about and drinking this berry-vodka mix he’s discovered. And possibly beer, if you’re lucky.)
Since we aimed for Akademin we had to leave early in order to get in. En route’ towards Akademin Khalid and Erik tried to teach me how to best pick up women. I remain convinced that this is an art they both suck at. At akademin we meet John. He looked Italian and spoke with an Italian dialect. Khalid and Erik thought this would get him more women. Khalid paid for my entrance so I had to buy him a beer. And since John was standing there talking to us, I had to buy one for him as well. Thank god beers at akademin are cheap.
We sat and spoke for a while in a leather couch. I have no ideá what happened to Khalid but he was gone after a couple of minutes. Erik tried to speak to Alejandra, a girl from Malmö Borgarskola, I’m sure I’ve told you about her before. But gave up when he thought she was to drunk for comfort and found another girl who he spoke to. John left looking for Khalid, and was also gone. I remained in the couch for a couple of minutes, before being bored. I smacked Erik on the head and went to find some one else I know. I found some Assyrian girls from my class, they posed with me, taking pictures. (Sure would like to see those pictures.) Emil and Said was there, as was Robin and Christoffer. I spoke to them all. I found Ivan, as well, an old classmate of mine from highschool, haven’t seen him since the kick off. And the Aussie was there (Told me he’s leaving next week though.)
After making the rounds I started dancing with the Assyrian girls, they were very enthusiastic about everything last night. Before I knew it Khalid and Eric showed up, pissed (Brittish english) and very eager to dance. Within minutes John was there as well, and he brought Ozzou shots. I was very happy. The Ouzou however made me thirsty so I went to buy a drink (Vodka cola, what else?) and since Khalid and Eric followed me I bought them beer as well. The drink was soon finished. (I was very thirsty) and I started dancing again.
At half past 1 I decided enough was enough and went to retrieve my coat. After buying a hot dog and the obligatory call to Mal I went home, surfed the webb, watched a movie (Donkey punch, suckiest movie I’ve seen all year. Brilliant sex scene, but that’s about everything that’s good about it, don’t see it.) and fell asleep at 4.
I woke up at 5, the following evening (= this evening) all rested and in good shape. Missed 3 hours of accounting lecture, which is okay as we don’t have an exam in it until march. Called mal and powered up the computer. My plans for the rest of the night is to go to the gym, watch a lot of movies and read a lot of judicial literature. And to stay awake until at least 8 tomorrow evening. What are my chances? high, I’d say.
Edit: Removed picture since it was making Mal uncomfortable and afraid. Women, can’t live ‘em..not even on a highly digital plane.
I find it interesting how one beer inevitably turn out to be – in fact – 4 beers, a breezer and two shots. Yesterday when I left the house I was hellbent on not drinking more then one beer and then go home. A quick social call on Erik’s night out. Anyway, went to O’learys, grabbed a beer with Erik, just chilling. He was already wasted. His habit of drinking alone before a party makes me nervous. After having finished the first beer, and Erik having poured his all over the table and floor, I bought a new one, figuring that there’s no point in drinking only beer if you’ve paid the closet fee already. Which I had.
When the second beer was almost finished Khalid showed up and he brought his Bolivian friend John. Then I had to take a third beer to keep Khalid and John company, for a couple of minutes at least. John (who has only been in Sweden for like three months) spoke close to perfectly pronounciated Swedish, which I complemented him on. This lead to him buying the group vodka shots. He made me speak Spanish to him. (No, this time he actually encouraged it, opposed to the usual regime of me voluntarily and quite enthusiastically start speaking Spanish to anyone who is from or have ever been to a Spanish speaking country. And then don’t stop even if it’s quite clear that they want me to.) He complemented my pronociation, and I thanked him.
We started dancing. You know that group of 4 guys standing in a ring dancing with each other and quite shyly catching glimpse of the girls all round the dance floor? That was us yesterday. We soon got thirsty and bought another round of beers which we drank. Bacardi breezer soon followed as I was thirstier then the rest of the group. We changed dance floors, which lead nowhere but to the bar, where Erik bought a round of fisk. He liked it. He hadn’t tried it before. stupid Norlänningar.
Before I knew it O’Leary’s closed and I found myself on the curb eating a hot dog. John and Khalid grabbed their individual buses home but Erik had found a chick who gave him her phone number. That was a big mistake on her end as he, for the next 5 minutes, called her like ten time when she stood, talking to another dude no more then 2meters away from us. There was also a guy from Växjö which had a laugh like Woody the woodpecker and knew my cousin. Cool. I left when he was forced to explain his erratic behavior to the girl (which I of some reason hugged godbye despite the fact that I hadn’t spoken or seen her before in my life)

My night begun already at four, buying alcohol for Armin, as he is not yet 20 and is therefor not allowed to buy stuff at Systembolaget (state monopoly on the sale of alcohol). I then continued home to Armin’s new flat, in the middle of Jönköping, next to sofiakyrkan where I dropped of the alcohol. I went home, showered and changed clothes and then came back. Roberto, Armin and I drank the alcohol we had previously purchased and watched Family Guy. My hatred for the show has subsided.
We soon after took the bus to Hovslätt where we partied with people from my class, that I’ve never associated myself with before. I drank a bottle of vodka, ridiculed Stockholmians and had a good time in general. By eight I was wasted and by 11 we returned to the city and akademin. By 2 I went home, fell asleep by 3 and woke up by 7. I’ll now resume sleeping, when I have grown tired of sleep (ha!) I’ll eat french fries and play with my computer. It’s going to be a good Saturday, rest assured.

Yesterday my landlady changed all the curtains and drapes to more christmasy ones and baked saffron buns This made me cold inside. What made me even colder was the view of the street outside, fyld with snow. I hate december.
I ate pasta and meat and then left for Erics place. We took the bus to folkparken in Huskvarna to watch dark Tranquility (This band that Erik likes.). En route there we shared a bottle of vodka, walking in the snow. Probably the most swedish thing I ever done.
Once there Erik begged som guys to give him a ciggarette. They did and after having smoked it we went to the bar and drank expensive drink (102kr/vodka redbull) and cheap Coronas (40kr/bottle). Erik braged about the girl he picked up at O’learys the night before, and we saw the singer of Dark Tranquility and his middle aged groupies drink cider. NOT rock n’ roll. We soon got tired of drinking and Erik wanted to smoke. We begged some other guys to give him a cigarette, they did and he smoked. We went to the concerthall ( a barn) and got there just in time to watch the last two songs by a band called Dead By April. They sound like this:
The Emo kids loved it, when they were done we went to see if somebody could offer Erik a smoke, and they could. we spent a halfenhour talking to some dude who was ín his first year of high school. When Dark tranquility started playing we returned to the barn. It was obvisouly a great giog for the ones who likes the band, I especially remember this one guy who liked the music so much he felt he needed to throw himself withouth restraints every which way, ramming people left and right. Thankfully this was a small dude and he could only knock down girls to the floor. He bodyslammed me three times and I promised myself that if he did it again I’d bodyslam him right back. ( I am probably a meter taller and 40kg heavier, he would not get up from the floor very easily after that.)
After the concert we begged some old guys to give Erik a smoke, and they did. We walked to the bus, in the snow, deciding that we were to tired and broke to go out party and after having begged this emokid for a smoke on the bus Erik went home.
I spent my last 50kr’s on Mcdonalds before walking home, freezing. I surfed the webb until 3 and was awake probably until 4. I slept until 2 and I have no idea what to do today. I’ll probably hit the gym and read about union and worklaws for a couple of hours, perhaps even rounding it off with a movie tonight, yea, that’ll probably be my day.
Dark Tranquility, Focus Shift.
